What is LED?
LED stands for “Light-Emitting Diode”, which involves using specific wavelengths of red light or blue light to trigger specific cellular functions. Similar to the way plants use sunlight to produce chlorophyl, human tissues also respond to certain wavelengths of light to create cellular energy known as ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate).
Red light is the gold standard for supporting aging skin, because it penetrates deeply into the skin to boost circulation, decrease inflammation, accelerate tissue repair, and increase collagen production to reduce wrinkling.
Blue light is also an effective tool for treating acne, because it kills acne-causing bacteria deep inside pores.
At Grove and Kane, we use the FDA-cleared device, Celluma, which utilizes both red and blue wavelengths concurrently. Light therapy is bright (we provide eye protection), but also deeply relaxing and painless. The Celluma device will be placed closely over your face while your esthetician performs neck and shoulder massage. Light therapy is not for those with a history of seizures or claustrophobia.
